Best Value!

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance recently published findings on the top six cities which they say boast the best value to its residences. The findings were based on the unemployment rate, median household income and cost of living among other factors.

  1. Omaha, Neb

Unemployment rate: 4.6%

Cost of Living index: 90.3

Median household income: $53,547.00

  1. Charlotte, N.C.

Unemployment rate: 10.46%

Cost of Living index: 93.0

Median household income: $53,168.00

  1. Nashville, TN.

Unemployment rate: 8.5%

Cost of Living index: 92.3

Median household income: $51,352.00

  1. Colorado Springs, Colo.

Unemployment rate: 9.3%

Cost of Living index: 92.0

Median household income: $56,576.00

  1. Knoxville, TN.

Unemployment rate: 7.7%

Cost of Living index: 89.7

Median household income: $45,727.00

  1. Lexington, KY.

Unemployment rate: 7.8%

Cost of Living index: 89.1

Median household income: $45,158.00

I don’t think it is a coincidence that two of the six cities are in east and middle Tennessee and that Tennessee is the only state that can boast having two of the top six! We have known all along that this area is a great place to be and I believe you can add to the statistics that we have some of the best lake and mountain property anywhere! More and more statistics keep coming out that show our area of East Tennessee being such a great value. With stocks being so volatile and with higher than normal inventories of homes and land on the market and with historically low interest rates, now is the time to be in a buying mode.
